Ahhh Summer. We can’t wait for it to get here every year. For me it creeps up and before I know it it’s over. This year I’m getting a head start on my plans and part of that means Summer Camp research. Who knew there were so many places offering Summer Camps in our city!?

It can be hard to keep them all straight with so many tabs open while we mill through the details. There are themes, multiple locations, overnight and day camps, scholarships available and the list goes on.

I’m planning on getting my oldest in to some art and theatre camps this summer but the most surprising thing I found is that there are even options for my 3 year old!

Plan Ahead for Summer Camp in the Greater Lansing Area

Fret no more over finding out the different options for your sweethearts this summer in Lansing. Here is a list of fabulous Summer Camp options. The only thing you’ll have to do is choose! You’ll want to keep checking back as we keep adding when we hear of new locations popping up. Many camps fill up fast so plan to call if you see one that you want to get into right away.

Get ready to make some memories and do art this summer with REACH’s week long Summer Camp options! You can’t go wrong with one of their super fun themes: Art History, Art in Nature, Knit Knot and Dye, Playing with Words and Paper, Art off the Page: Music, Dance, Theatre and more! Camps run 6/18 – 8/17.

Apple Tree East Lansing Early Care and Preschool holds a safe and fun  summer explorer camp. Explorers will laugh, learn, and make new friends as they travel to museums, farms, zoos, parks, and do activities throughout the weeks.

Have an epic summer in the wonder of the outdoors! Campers will experience games, science, art and more in their “Go Wild Day Camp”.  Available options are Pre-K half day, K-5 full day, 6-8 full day running June 18-August 17.

I5 Summer LABS Day Camps are so much fun for all ages! Here campers will learn the basics of Science while having fun. Is your little one into Science or want to be? This is a perfect options for the curious minds out there. Camp Labs run by ages: 3-55-77-910-1210-14. Camps run June – August.

The Eli & Edyth Broad Art Museum offers themed weekly day camps and it’s anything but average! Campers will learn to see the world and art differently. Some themes include: Art is Brave, Art is Surprising, Art is Playful, and more! Camps are available for ages 6-High School. Scholarships are available. Camp runs 6/18 – 8/17.

Build lasting friendships in during these commuinty building Theme camps! Woldumar promotes the freedom of campers to be who they are while the Science of nature comes alive each day. Some themes include Plants, Art History, Wet n Wild, Teen Camps and more! A great new feature this year is All Day camp for Preschoolers. Enjoy ALL DAY, Weekly Camps at Birchfield park! Campers will participate in nature, activities, games, crafts, swimming and much more. Serving ages 5-12. Exploring Nature Day Camps run 6/11-8/13.

Lansing Parks and Rec does not disappoint each year when it comes to Summer Camp in Lansing. They even include breakfast. Camps run June – August. They have many themes including:

  • Girls Lacrosse Camp (Ages 9-14)
  • Lansing Kids Weekly Camp (Ages 5-9) Foster, Gier, Letts, Lewton, Schmidt
  • Double Digits Weekly Camp (10-13) Foster, Gier, Letts, Lewton, Schmidt
  • Pre and Post Care Weekly Camp  (5-13) Foster, Gier, Letts, Lewton, Schmidt
  • Volunteer Camp (14-17) Learn job skills and be a camp counselor in training.
  • Themes Camps: Twisted Olympics, Monsters Mummies and Mayhem, Wacky Week, Welcome to the Jungle, Pirates Paradise, Jedi Challenge, Heroes Unite, Best of the Best.

Get ready for some unique, cool fun at Lansing Art Gallery then show it off at the student art show at the end of each series. Give your blooming artist this perfect opportunity to have some fun, learn, and grow in confidence. Scholarships available. Camps run 6/18 – 8/24.

City Life Lansing hosts a 4 day FREE sports camp each year that is tons of fun for ages K-5th grade. Sports include Soccer, Basketball, Frisbee, and games. Campers will receive breakfast and lunch. There will be an after party at the end of the week on Sunday after their service. Camp runs June 14-17, 9AM – 1PM.

Aim High Basketball Summer Camps are top notch and some led by WNBA player Paige Sauer! Campers will improve their skills and make new friends. Camp options include Boys and Girls Co-Ed, and Girls Basketball.

The MAC offers awesome programs for kids each summer. Campers will learn Life, socialization, and health skills. They will go on field trips, explore nature and more! Some of their themes include Cardboard Boat Race, Pirate week, Where the wild things are, and more! These camps are divided by age: 3-5 and 6-12. Camp runs 6/13 – 8/31.

Alive! offers summer field trip destinations for small groups. Kids will experience adventures in Alive!’s GROW, SOAR, ASCEND, RELISH, and PRESERVE. Groups will experience rock climbing, cooking, sports, tree house structure, and outdoor education in their garden. These options are designed for ages 3-5 or 6-12. These adventures run all summer long.

Workshops and Summer classes are available through Wharton Center. Is your child reciting lines and doing plays for you like mine is? I can’t wait to get him into a workshop. Watch your kids come alive as they learn valuable skills in these theatre workshops. Workshops run throughout the year including Summer. Keep checking back for Summer Camp details.

Swimming, field trips, crafts and more all at East Lansing Parks, Recreation, and Art Summer Camp! Some themes include Archer, Basketball, Specialty Adventure and more. Camps run 6/20 – 8/24.

District 5 holds a summer camp from June 11 to July 12. I wish this was around when I was a kid! They gear their camp for all types of fitness levels and promote “inclusiveness and positive reinforcement.”

Information Technology Empowerment Center has learning and fun all figured out! Wow your “budding engineers” by signing them up for these unique and exciting themes. Some options include: 3D Printing, Web Design, App design, and more! Scholarships available. Camp runs 6/20 – 8/12.

Set off to Zookambi Summer Camp at Potter Park Zoo and have a “Wild Summer”! These camps are for kids grades 1-7 and 8-12. They offer full, half, and extended care programs. Join the adventure! Camp runs 6/18 – 8/17.

Chess is awesomely at Arbor Chess Camp! These teachers have been in the game for a long time and love sharing the joy of Chess. Campers will learn and experience “Tournaments, Risk and Stratego” and every camper is guaranteed a trophy! Camp runs June 25-29.

MSU Community Music School is a great option for your growing musician. Keep their interest all summer long as they have fun and meet other people with similar passions. Scholarships available. Camp runs June – August.

My mom ran a kids sports camp program at MSU when I was a kid all year long including the summer. Some of my best and most vivid fun memories of Diving, Baseball, Gymnastics, Golf, and Swimming, were from these days at MSU. The YMCA is always so much for kids! They have options for kids all over town and campers will experience something new every day. From traditional day camps to specialty sports camps there is something for everyone. Camps run all summer and vary in run date depending on location.

The YMCA has a great map showing you where each camp is located. This is perfect for deciding which area you’re most interested in. Here are their fantastic locations where you’ll find contact info and details.

Camp Lookout in Frankfort, MI mission is to keep the wonder alive in your youth. Here campers will learn to unplug fro the electronic world we live in, make friends, and experience nature and camp life in a safe and fun environment.

Spring Hill Church Summer Camp features the blob, zip line, climbing wall, water slides, music and more! They integrate Faith, Family, and Fun.

Ebersole hosts groups of 35 or more that want to experience a unique Summer Camp? This option is great for Homeschooling groups, Churches, Band Camps, and Family Reunions. I have to admit, this sounds pretty awesome for a family reunion Summer Camp! I went here as a kid through my school and it was awesome! You’ll leave with unforgettable great memories.
